UP Global Investors Summit 2023 in Lucknow
PM inaugurates the UP Global Investors Summit; Industry leaders laud Prime Minister’s leadership and growth opportunity in Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, opened the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023 in Lucknow on 10 February. The summit was a flagship investment summit of the government of Uttar Pradesh, bringing together decision-makers, corporate titans, academics, think tanks, and world leaders to discuss commercial prospects and form alliances. Industry leaders spoke at the event, with Shri Kumar Mangalam Birla giving the Prime Minister credit for injecting fresh life into the nation’s economic environment, Shri Mukesh Ambani claiming that increased funding for capital expenditures (Capex) would boost social welfare and economic growth, and Shri Natarajan Chandrasekaran claiming that India will soon have the fastest-growing economy due to the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister. Daniel Bircher, CEO of Zurich Airport Asia, highlighted the long-standing relationship between Switzerland and India, where Zurich Airport helped to build Bengaluru Airport twenty years ago and is currently building Noida International Airport.
Nearly 65% of mobile phones sold in India are made in Uttar Pradesh, which he attributes to the state’s progressive policies for turning it into a manufacturing hub. Dixon Technologies is considering exporting mobile phones valued at nearly $100 billion. The sector leaders all expressed confidence about the possibilities opening up in India due to the Prime Minister’s vision and laser-sharp emphasis on execution.
The Prime Minister addressed the crowd and extended his warm greeting to the business community, influential figures in the industry, and decision-makers in his capacity as Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted the state’s cultural magnificence, illustrious history, and rich heritage, as well as its sound government, improved law and order, and overall peace and stability. He also highlighted the success of UP’s infrastructure improvements efforts, such as five international airports, a freight corridor, and a significant shift in how the government in Uttar Pradesh was approaching guaranteeing ease of doing business. The Prime Minister also noted that every Indian citizen wants to follow the road of progress and hopes to see a “Viksit Bharat” in the future. He informed the investors that an aspirational society is waiting for them in Uttar Pradesh, noting its size and population. Uttar Pradesh society has become more connected and inclusive due to the digital revolution.
The Prime Minister of India highlighted the potential for investors in health, education, and social infrastructure, as well as the green growth route. He also highlighted the state’s thriving network of MSMEs, the majority of mobile components and 60% of India’s mobile phones being produced in Uttar Pradesh, the government’s commitment to giving the Indian Army defence platforms and systems that were Made in India, and the prospects for dairy, agriculture, fisheries, and food processing in Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister emphasised natural farming while discussing crop variety, additional resources for farmers, and lowering the cost of inputs. He also noted the 10,000 bio-input resource centres that were suggested in this budget. The Prime Minister of India highlighted the nutritious benefits of millet and the government’s efforts to meet the demands of global nutritional security. He also highlighted the state’s education and skill development efforts, such as institutes that will impart various types of skills.
The UP government has set a goal of building 100 incubators and three cutting-edge institutes over the next few years, producing a sizable pool of young people with potential and skills. The Prime Minister emphasised the strong collaboration between the determination of the double-engine government and the opportunities in the state of Uttar Pradesh and asked business executives and investors to join in on the prosperity. The Government of Uttar Pradesh’s flagship investment summit, the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023, will bring together decision-makers, business titans, academics, think tanks, and world leaders to explore business opportunities and create alliances jointly.
