According to Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, the government is committed to creating artificial intelligence and AI-powered solutions that will improve India and the lives of its citizens.

The Minister remarked this while speaking at the Technology Round Table, which was hosted by Business Standard in Bengaluru yesterday. “AI will be a kinetic enabler of India’s digital economy and also make Governance smarter and more data-led,” he added. The conference focused on “AI and Business: Navigating the Opportunities and Challenges.” AI can be helpful in many ways, including improved customer experience, operational efficiency, better decision-making, and opening up new business models.

According to Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the government is collaborating with academia, startups, and industry players to develop cutting-edge applications and scalable problem solutions in a variety of fields, including agriculture, health, and sustainable cities, to secure India’s position as one of the leading Nations in the AI space. This is done in the hopes of fostering an effective AI ecosystem.

According to him, IndiaAI would considerably increase the AI Compute and GPU infrastructure in collaboration with tech firms to spur the development and creation of cutting-edge technologies while setting boundaries for their morally and safely acceptable application. He continued that creating a model of responsible and ethical AI for India and the globe is one of IndiaAI’s goals.

The Prime Minister has strongly emphasised making India a Global Talent Hub for AI as part of the IndiaAI initiative, in addition to creating technology. The implementation of skill-building initiatives to re-skill and up-skill professionals to be proficient with emerging technologies as well as to provide Young Indians with industry-ready and future-ready capabilities was made by Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

AI can benefit organisations in the digital economy by automating monotonous operations, analysing data to uncover insights, and increasing the precision of predictions. Cost reductions, enhanced productivity, and greater competitiveness can result from this. AI may also help businesses create new business models by seeing previously overlooked opportunities and assisting them in seizing them.

Automation of administrative processes, data analysis to spot patterns and trends, and outcome prediction are all ways that AI can assist governments in becoming more data-driven and effective in their governance. This may result in better resource management, better decision-making, and more effective service provision. By analysing vast volumes of data and discovering patterns and trends that may not be immediately obvious, AI can also assist governments in identifying and addressing social and economic challenges.

The widespread deployment of AI in India’s digital economy and governance will necessitate large investments in infrastructure, data security, and labour upskilling, which is crucial to remember. Additional ethical and privacy considerations related to its use need to be addressed to guarantee that the technology is applied responsibly and moderately.
